Payroll Tax Holiday

Looks like the Democrats and Republicans will find something to agree on very soon, the payroll tax holiday.  Well what I can't seem to understand is why do we give even a temporary cut to the Social Security contributions when the system is said to be going broke.  Sure families enjoyed the extra $40 or so dollars in their paychecks but would they have gone under if they didn't have this money.

I just don't get politicians, well yes I do.  All they care about is making us little people happy so they can get re-elected.  Would a business man running a failing business give his employees a raise to make them happy?  I think not.
I am tired of our elected officials trying to pacify We The People with a bribe we can't even afford.  What I want is elected officials working together to solve our problems not trying to find ways to put We The People to sleep.  Keep the $40 in the Social Security system and work at changing things like:
  • Medicare
  • Social Security
  • Tax Loopholes for the rich and business
  • Our ridiculous tax code (why do I have to spend hours doing a tax return, just take what your supposed to and keep it.)
  • Immigration
  • Enforcement of our current laws
  • Term limits for our elected officials
  • Pension reform for all public employees especially our elected officials
  • Our dependence on foreign oil
I am sure this is enough to keep them busy for a while.

This was my second to last post on this blog.  I took some time away with the hope that when I came back things would be different.  I was wrong and I know for sure

WE THE PEOPLE

must stay at it until change does take place.  I am back.

Politics

Today I watched C-SPAN to watch the debate on the debt increase issue.  What a mess Washington is in.  Every Democrat say that we need more revenue and basically blame President Bush.  The Republican say that the bill being debated is a bipartisan bill.  It doesn't look like any of the Democrats know this.  It seems to me that We The People are represented by people who only care about how they look in public.
Why is it that this large group can't sit down and come up to many solutions that will make We The People feel that we are getting our moneys worth.  Nothing will ever get done if both parties do not sit down and compromise.  We have a two party system because we all know no one group has all the answers.  Is it time for a third party to come to power and cause the Republicans and Democrats to wake up and start serving the needs of We The People.
I think that if an elected official criticizes a piece of legislation publicly they should be required to make a suggestion of their own.  Nothing gets done because neither side want the other to pass any legislation that might solve a problem.
Where is the leadership?  Where is President Obama?  Obama quotes Ronald Reagan, instead he should learn a lesson about leadership from the former President Reagan and get something done.
