Elected officials are put in office to serve the will of We The People. That is not the case today in America. We The People are being ignored by our elected officials and we need to rebel. When England did this when we were a colony the people started a revolution and won their independence from England.
We The People need to start a new revolution to gain independence from our elected officials. How do we do this, vote. That is our weapon and that is what they fear. Use your vote to remove any elected official that ignores We The People. Let's start at the top and keep going until they give us our independence.
By the time we get past the 2010 elections, those that remain should have the message and should be listening to We The People.
We have the power, don't get lazy, get out and vote out the elected officials that ignore us.

Mad as Hell
I'm mad as hell with the Republican Party. They should be pounding the press with outrage every time government does something against We The People. Pelosi says we are Un-American to yell during a town meeting, no response. Van Jones makes a racist speech, no response. Obama propaganda to our youth, no response. A war is being lost, no response. Universal health care being shoved down our throats, no response. Out of control deficits, no response. Unemployment rising, no response.
Why is there no uprising among the elected officials?
Let me tell you that I am beginning to wonder if the Republican party is just part of the problem.

Hero's
The huge fires in California gets you to thinking about the heroic job our firefighter do for We The People. They understand their position of protecting the people from the danger of fire and do their job without any other agenda. They risk their lives to protect us.
In the 2010 elections look for candidates that have the same qualities and get rid of the cowards that never have protected We The People. Forget about party, just put in the next American Hero regardless of party and make those cowards that have screwed this country up go home.
We The People have all the power and it is time for us to take our country back. Organize, inform, encourage, and act to support our country in a positive, bipartisan way. Vote the cowards out.

Propaganda
I teach high school students in California and understand how much influence I have in forming the students opinions on the issues. I spend a lot of effort to not put my opinion in any class discussions so that the students can express and form their own thoughts with out being influenced by me, the authority figure. President Obama needs to stay out of the classroom environment when expressing his opinions. He is the ultimate authority figure and should not be given a captive audience of young people to try to influence.
I am asked often by students my opinions on certain issues and I always tell them that my opinion is not important, what is important is that they are learning to form their own opinions with out my influence.
We The People need to protect our children from propaganda of all kinds. It is bad enough that some teachers consistently put their spin on the issues but for the President of the United States to use the classroom is just wrong.

John Garamendi
What is wrong with the people of California? We continue to put the same people in elected positions. What do we do when we go to the ballot, look and see if we recognize a name and vote for that person?
We have to vote in new blood and get rid of the career politicians like Garamendi. Think about him, a career politician from California, the most screwed up state in the country. His reward may be a trip to Washington as a member of the US House.

ID to Vote
Lot's of talk about needing to produce a valid ID in order to vote. My question is why have we waited so long to do this? We should do everything possible to secure the validity of every election and it seems logical to only have people vote that are supposed to and to ensure that we only get one vote.
I have heard opposition saying it is discrimination, too whom I'm not sure. Even in Iraq they dip a finger in blue ink to make sure no one votes twice.
What would it take to do this? First everyone would need a valid ID and if they needed one and could not afford the cost it should be free.
Then no ID means no vote. This stops people from voting more than once and it stops those that are not citizens from voting.
I think it is time that We The People have the most secure elections possible. If you disagree please educate me to your views.

Moderate Party
Why do we need a new Moderate Party? The Democrats are driven by the minority radical left and the Republicans are on vacation. If the Republicans had two majorities and the White House and were doing what the Democrats are doing they would be fought tooth and nail by the Democrats. The current Republicans are not vocal and are invisible to We The People.
We basically have a one party system driven by the radical left. Not what the founding fathers had in mind. Where have the Republicans gone? They have no leader or direction and don't seem willing to find one.
I am concerned that this country will make fundamental changes that will take us down a path of disaster. If we did have a Moderate Party, We The People may be represented and things will be different.
At worst we need to send our elected officials in high positions a message by voting them out of office and letting them spend some time living in our world. The 2010 elections are important to get rid of the radical right and left and to support our moderates regardless of party. Do your research now and be ready for the next very important election.

Kennedy
Regardless of politics you have to admire the legacy of Ted Kennedy leaves behind. What bothers me about elected officials is that they want things their way no matter what. The Democrats want to change Massachusetts law concerning replacing a State Senator, Ted Kennedy. They are the ones that put the current law in place when Mitt Romney was Governor because they feared he would select a Republican.
As the law stands now, as the Democrats wanted, there needs to be a special election to replace Kennedy. The Democrats now want to go back to the way they changed and have the Governor make the selection. How hypocritical.
By the way it seems that the person they fear will run and win the seat is once again Romney. Let the laws stand and let We The People have our say at the polls.

California State Income Tax
Our state government in California is amazing, not in a good way. The latest involves with-holdings from our paychecks. The state is broke so they figured if we just increase the with-holdings for state tax by 10% they will have more revenue to use right away. No it is not a new tax because they will give it back to us when we file our state income tax next year.
This amounts to a no interest loan the State of California has made with We The People of the State of California. I don't recall agreeing to this deal. I wonder if I can get the same deal from the state to pay off my mortgage? Not.
All elected official need to get it together, stop being so smug, stop thinking you are above the people that put you in office. If not, I will do my part and sending as many of you home to real jobs every election.

Diversion
It would not surprise me that a new national issue should rise to the front page of every newspaper to take We The People's minds off the main issue of the day, health care. Seems to be a trend in politics to change the focus when we are struggling to gain public opinion. The public does not seem behind Obama's health care proposal but he continues to push for it anyway.
What is next, the CIA investigation, Cash for Something program, swine flue, who knows. Just be on the lookout for a diversion, seems like it is needed now. Don't be fooled by politics, keep yourself informed of what is really going on in our country. Take control back from our elected official.

Transparency
President Obama said many times that his administration would be transparent unlike the Bush administration. How hard will he find that to do, likely impossible. With all that is at stake no President can let the public know everything when it concerns national security issues.
What about small items like the Presidents Birth Certificate or school records. Why not produce these items especially when their is a controversy over these documents. If Obama was really going to be transparent with We The People he would just produce the documentation eliminating the controversy.
What is the problem?

Budget
I don't know about you but I spend a lot of time working on my personal budget to make sure my family can afford to live the way we do.
I am increasingly concerned over the lack of budgetary controls in Washington and the Obama administration. When we throw out numbers in the trillions everyone should be very concerned. How can our government continue to spend money we just don't have?
We in the private sector have seen the results of our personal issues with budgets. Look at the amount of credit card debt and all those who have lost a house due to having a mortgage they could not afford. The Obama administration has seen our pain and has decided to join us by ignoring budget issues.
We The People deserve more from our elected officials. Don't take us down the road of disaster by spending out of control. We cannot prosper as a nation if we are flat broke.

Credit Cards
Just fresh back from a great vacation in San Diego, great place to see and play in.
While I was gone I started getting mail from my credit card companies and they were all doing the same thing, raising my interest rates. Banks barely give you 1% on your savings but now the credit card companies are charging consumers up to 29.99%. It is not that I have bad credit and am a risk, my credit score is over 800, it is pure greed.
Our elected officials in Washington have passed a bill protecting us all from just this type of loanshark tactics but I forgot, they had a loophole in the bill giving all the credit card companies time to stick it to We The People.
Elected officials once again do something that looks good in sound bites but once again falls short of serving the people. Once again the elected officials are serving their own agenda.
One more reason to start a third moderate party and to vote out any elected official that is radical right or left. Send a message.

Unity
What strikes me is the dis-unity we have in politics today. It is not about what is good for the country it is about being politically correct with your party. Neither party conducts bipartisan politics. For a moment after 9/11 both parties united and that gave We The People hope and courage during distressing times. It did not take long to start playing the blame game on both sides of the aisles.
Elected officials should support what they feel is the best road for the country. Instead they are encouraged to go along with the party line or not gain influence in their party.
I commend the Democratic "Blue Dogs" for standing up to their principals not the parties in the health care debate. Keep it going.
If our elected officials don't work together we don't move forward.
A word of caution to the Democrats, the last time you had a majority you tackled health care and failed causing you to waist the majority. Doesn't history repeat itself every time.

Government vs Private
What is the business of our Government? Is it to serve and protect it's people or is it to monopolize every aspect of our lives? I don't think the founding fathers envisioned government being such a large part of our daily lives.
As far as the health care issue, can't the government make some changes that affect the industry to make it better, instead of putting forth a bill, over 1000 pages, that completely changes the system?
Let's put some of that government money we borrowed from China to good use.
Establish government free clinics. Mandate service requirements for all Americans including health care providers that could work in the clinics free of charge for a period of time.
Make changes to the legal system to control the cost of mal-practice insurance leading to lower cost to companies to supply insurance.
Institute more controls over the fraud that goes on with the Medicare system, saving the government money.
None of this creates a new government run system. Let private industry change with the governments help and we will see an improved system that serves all and will be embraced by all Americans.

The Middle
All the views on politics and issues we see usually come from the far left or the far right. The political elite has forgotten that even though we have a two party system, most of us are somewhere in the middle. We The People are not represented in the media or government with radical thinking. The middle is in essence the third and most powerful party. When we vote we look at the stance on important issues, not the political party the person represents.
The political elite should spend more energy representing the people and less energy representing a political party.
Remember that We The People employ the politicians and can control their activities and employment with our most powerful tool, our vote. In the 2010 elections let's send them a message and fire some long time radical political elite members of both houses and our state governments. This is the only way for the middle to finally get represented in this country.

Vote
I am afraid that the political elite will continue to justify their agenda no matter what We The People say. The Obama administration is able to justify the angry crowds at town hall meetings by having one of their own with a rigged crowd. Nancy Pelosi referes to the people yelling at the elected officials at the town hall meetings as "un-American". Apparently Nancy Pelosi needs a history lesson and go back and understand how this country was formed. If it were not for those loud, unrulely citizens, this country would not have formed.
The people have loudly sent a message to the political elite but they feel they know what is best for us no matter what we say. The solution is to vote out some long term elected officials to send the rest of them a message that We The People are your boss and you better listen to what we say.
I tell you all that you need to vote at every election because that is our only tool we have and it is a large tool. Our vote is the only thing they fear, so use it wisely. Understand that when you don't vote you are giving the same elite crowd permission to control you. Vote with knowledge, vote with a purpose, just vote.

Just the facts
We The People just want the facts about the issues that are pressing us today. How do we get the facts: sound bites on the local news, liberal newspapers, conservative radio, and other less than reliable sources. How can our elected officials expect the average person to get behind large issues such as health care without knowing the facts. Some are holding town hall meetings and I commend them for doing so. Unfortunately, some are turning into a place to protest or advance an agenda.
We have to have a way to get the facts, not opinion, about these issues into the peoples hand. I would love to understand what the President wants to accomplish with health care and how. Not once is this laid out in a detailed, yet understandable way.
Yes, I want health care reform. But responsibly in a way that puts health care in the hands of every American and reduces the cost burden on business by controlling the costs of the programs.
Does anyone have a program like this, how will I know.
Help the people understand and we will get behind things and people with robust energy.

California
Since this is the state I live in let's start with talking about the political scene in California. The state that nothing ever changes for the better because the agenda of the politicians rule. The state is broke and some see the solution as more taxes and other see the solution as cut everything. Bottom line is we only have so much money to spend and the government is supposed to spend it as We The People want. A recent vote defeated new taxes, a message you would think, but that does not stop some from wanting to find ways to increase revenues on the backs of the people.
The budget that was sent to the Governor was still not balanced and would require more revenues so the Governor made more cuts. Now some in the legislature are suing the Governor for overstepping his authority. I say if they had done their job in the first place we would not be in this mess.
All we get is partisan politics and the rush of each elected official to write bills and get them past. It is about their agenda not the agenda of those they are supposed to be working for. Lot's of changes are needed in the great state of California.

Why blog?
I am tired of the way the political machine works in the US today. We seem to have gotten far away from the concept of governing to serve the people and not some other type of agenda. That is why I titled the blog "We The People". We the people are the only ones that can make changes in the way things are run by our political machine. We can force our elected officials to give us only what we want.
It does not matter what political party you belong to, we all want the same thing, to regain control of the activities of our elected officials.
I live in California and we are a complete mess that I feel has been created by the political machine. It is not about what is good for the people, it is about what is good for my political career. We the people need to get more involved and start holding them accountable at the polls.
So this is just my first rambling thoughts, I hope you enjoy them and share yours.
